System requirements — no surprises
We don't pretend AI works on shared hosting or that you can run a legal practice on SQLite. Here's what you actually need to use LexPrime OS at full capacity — including the 21 AI tools.
- South African VPS (4GB RAM minimum for AI features)
- Recommended: 8GB RAM for firms with 5+ concurrent users
- 20GB disk space (plus document storage)
- Ubuntu 22.04 LTS or equivalent Linux
- Ollama installed on the same server (we provide setup script)
- Recommended models: granite3.1-moe:3b (default) or llama3.2 (3B params)
- AI features gracefully degrade — system remains fully functional without Ollama
- 4GB+ RAM allocated to Ollama for responsive inference
- Modern browser (Chrome 90+, Firefox 88+, Safari 14+, Edge 90+)
- JavaScript enabled
- WebRTC support for voice dictation
- PayFast merchant account for credit card payments
- WhatsApp Business API account for client messaging
- Email account (IMAP/SMTP) for unified inbox
- Bank feed access for reconciliation
Fully-managed VPS — R499/month
We provision a South African VPS, install LexPrime OS, set up Ollama with the recommended model, configure daily backups, and handle all security updates. You just log in and use the system. This is added on top of your subscription plan.
- 8GB RAM VPS in Johannesburg data centre
- Ollama pre-installed with granite3.1-moe:3b model
- Daily encrypted backups (30-day retention)
- SSL certificate and automatic renewal
- Security patches and Next.js updates
- Uptime monitoring with 1-hour response
What happens if Ollama isn't installed?
LexPrime OS gracefully degrades. Without Ollama, all 21 AI tools return a friendly "AI not enabled" message — but every other feature (case management, trust accounting, FICA, e-signatures, portal, payments, WhatsApp, reports) continues to work normally. You can enable AI later by installing Ollama (one-click script provided) and toggling it on in AI Settings.
